Integrative Chiropractic is a full service chiropractic clinic specializing in the treatment of musculoskeletal injuries.

Integrative Chiropractic is a different type of of chiropractic clinic. We strive to understand and treat the true cause of an injury or complaint instead of merely the symptoms.

Dr. Chris Mutz is a Houston native.  He graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in Kinesiology – Applied Exercise Physiology.  While attending A&M, Dr. Mutz began personal training university faculty members.  His last semester of A&M he interned at Houston’s Downtown Club at the Met and upon graduation was hired to be a full-time personal trainer.  While at the Met, Dr. Mutz provided individualized programs to clients of all different fitness levels.

After 3 years working at the Met Dr. Mutz continued his career being hired at Acceleration Training Concepts where his methodologies progressed to working with clients based upon functional exercises.  He utilized the Functional Movement Screen with clients revealing movement dysfunctions which, as he saw many times over, can lead to injury if not addressed.  Developing an understanding of the way people are supposed to move helped him design proper programs to address movement dysfunction so clients could perform at their best.  While at Acceleration Training Concepts Dr. Mutz coached a variety of clients from athletes to individuals exercising for the first time.  No matter who he worked with improving movement to increase performance and decrease injury was always the goal.

Throughout his time at the Met and Acceleration Training Concepts Dr. Mutz valued continuing education becoming certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association, Cooper Institute, TRX Suspension Trainer, Hardstyle Kettlebell Certification, as well as the Functional Movement Screen.  In efforts to further pursue his education Dr. Mutz enrolled at Texas Chiropractic College where he was fortunate to work with patients at Moody Health Center as a Clinical Teaching Assistant and provided care while on rotations to students & staff at UHCL as well as athletes and coaches at Rice University.  He also spent time on rotations at The Bridge Over Troubled Waters, a shelter for women who are victims of domestic violence.  Dr. Mutz graduated with academic recognition from Texas Chiropractic College and is certified through the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners and licensed through the Texas Board of Chiropractic Examiners as well as FMT certified by RockTape – Kinesiology Tape.

At Integrative Chiropractic, Dr. Mutz blends traditional chiropractic methods with complimentary treatments to decrease pain and improve physical function.  Even if an injury is not present, regular chiropractic treatments can help maintain physical health.

Soft Tissue Therapy

Soft tissues such as muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia can become tight and restricted causing pain and loss of motion.  Muscular injuries, overuse and even under use of muscles can cause such problems but different manual techniques can be implemented to eliminate restrictions improving pain free motion.

Therapeutic Modalities

Integrative Chiropractic utilizes therapeutic ultrasound, E-stim, heat & ice therapies to help decrease muscle spasms, reduce inflammation, and speed the healing process from injury.

Kinesiology Taping

This type of tape, when applied to the body, has the ability to lift the skin allowing more blood flow to an injured area reducing healing time.  This same tape can also be used to decrease areas of swelling.  Taping is so versatile it not only can be used for injury recovery but used regularly by athletes to increase performance.

The utilization of muscular stretches, joint mobility work and strengthening is crucial for proper injury recovery.  When injured, altered movements start to develop due to pain and loss of motion & function.  This can impede and delay recovery and can create problems at other areas of the body.  Providing proper stretching, mobility and strengthening exercises helps restore balance to the body greatly reducing the chance of re-injury.
